How long does it take to make a will?

General Wills

The time needed depends on how you create your will:

Online will services (like WillsConnect): 20-30 minutes
Complete online questionnaire, expert reviews it, download your will. Can be done from home any time.

High street solicitor: 2-4 weeks typically
Initial appointment to discuss wishes, they draft the will, you review and return to sign. Requires multiple appointments.

Specialist will writer: 1-2 weeks typically
Home visit to discuss, they draft the will, return visit to sign.

With WillsConnect, the process is remarkably fast:

  1. Answer clear questions about your wishes (15-20 minutes)
  2. Expert review (usually within 24 hours)
  3. Make any changes if needed
  4. Download your will
  5. Print, sign with two witnesses (10 minutes)

You can save your progress and return to it, so you don't have to complete it all in one sitting. The key is starting - most people find it quicker and easier than they expected.

Don't let time concerns stop you. With modern online services, you can have a legally valid will completed in less time than it takes to watch a TV show.
